PASSING OF A LEGEND
It is with great sadness that we, at Bendix/King, learned Edward J. King Jr. passed away on June 3rd at the age of 90. While Ed King enjoyed many successes, he truly was a pioneer of modern avionics. And Bendix/King would not be what it is today without him.
Ed King started King Radio in his basement before eventually moving the company into a farmhouse in Lenexa, Kansas. Throughout the years, Ed's dedication and entrepreneurial spirit flooded the aviation industry with products that were broadly accepted for all general aviation aircraft. While Ed sold King Radio to Allied Signal/Bendix Aerospace in 1985, his legacy continues to live on within the current Bendix/King culture. Ed King is a legend in our business and his philosophies remain a driving force in our day-to-day operations.
As Bendix/King moves forward with a renewed brand, promise and business operations in New Mexico, one thing remains same; the legacy instilled into our traditions by Ed King Jr. in 1959 will continue to enable Bendix/King to develop and produce reliable, innovative avionics.
Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. His legacy in aviation will never be forgotten.
